The wife and nine-year-old daughter of a California news anchor who died in a motel last week from a suspected overdose paid tribute to him at his funeral on Friday.

Chris Burrous, 43, died on December 27 after being found unresponsive in the Days Inn in Glendale.

The Los Angeles County Coroner's Office is yet to publicly disclose its findings into his death.

At his funeral on Friday, Burrous' nine-year-old daughter Isabella was among those who spoke.

'In my heart, he’s still there and alive and I hope he is for all of you, too,' she said.

Burrous' wife Mai Do said she was touched by the turn-out.
